SETI Institute and Arhus University Hospital Create Multi-User OS X Environments to Complete Technical Computing Research

Los Angeles, CA – October 13, 2010 - Aqua Connect Inc., the provider of the only enterprise grade Mac terminal server, today announced that the SETI Institute and Arhus University Hospital have chosen Aqua Connect as their solution provider for Mac Remote Desktop Services.

Aqua Connect Terminal Server allows the SETI Institute and Arhus Univeristy Hospital to utilize the power of OS X server technology. Both organizations use the highly advanced MATLAB software for complex computations. Access to MATLAB was limited to only a few users with local workstations, which hindered productivity. Aqua Connect’s solution allowed SETI and Arhus University Hospital to significantly increase user access to MATLAB and other applications.

Arhus University Hospital found it especially difficult to run complex and high-powered MATLAB computations on their workstations. Mac terminal services allow them to run MATLAB in background Aqua Connect sessions, freeing up the workstation to be used for everyday applications and activities. 

The SETI Institute tried various alternatives including VNC applications and screen sharing. These solutions failed to produce acceptable results and lacked the multi-user aspect of OS X terminal services. SETI experienced a considerable amount of frustration with alternatives, and found the Aqua Connect Terminal Server to be the only enterprise suitable solution.
