The Green Campaign is a special opportunity from Aqua Connect and 10Zig for Universities, Colleges, technical schools and K-12 to receive discounted software and hardware. Dedicated to the mission of increasing green computing practices on campuses and in schools across the country, the Green Campaign is the innovative way to bring Mac OS X into education while also reducing energy consumption.
Green computing is becoming an essential part of the educational system. Promoting green practices not only saves your school money everyday, it has the added benefit of teaching our students the valuable lessons of energy conservation. As the Mac platform increases in popularity with students, delivering Mac desktops has become a priority for schools. Through the Aqua Connect Terminal Server, the first Mac terminal server ever, Aqua Connect and 10Zig make it possible to deliver OS X desktops to energy efficient and long-lasting thin client devices. Its not Mac virtualization- its even better! Energy efficient and cost effective computing through Mac terminal services. Take some time on this site to learn more about our solution and find exclusive offers and discounts that are only available here. Save up to 80% on energy consumption and costAqua Connect Terminal Server allows you to share the server's resources and deploy Mac OS X to a diverse amount of hardware such as PCs, legacy Macs and energy efficient 10Zig thin clients. Before Aqua Connect created the first Mac terminal server, OS X could not be deployed to energy efficient thin clients. 10Zig thin clients use between 1/4 to 1/8 the amount of energy of a normal PC or Mac workstation. The server becomes a green server by deploying the Mac operating system to energy efficient thin clients.Every day you will save money in energy costs and consumption when using Aqua Connect Terminal Server in conjunction with 10Zig thin clients. The best part is that many 10Zig thin clients are far cheaper to purchase than a normal workstation. For less than the cost of a low end MacBook, you can purchase a 10 Zig thin client and an Aqua Connect Terminal Server license to deploy OS X. With no moving parts, 10Zig thin clients can last more than 10 years, increasing even more the value of these devices.
What is Terminal Services?
Terminal services allows multiple users on different types of hardware to connect to a server remotely and run their own desktop as if they were sitting right in front of that server. Terminal services has been available on the Windows platform for over a decade now. This technology has proven very valuable to schools and organizations for years, but unfortunately only Windows users could benefit from it. Our product is the result of years of development with both Microsoft and Apple to create the Aqua Connect Terminal Server- the world's first Mac terminal server. How Does it Work? Aqua Connect Terminal Server (ACTS) provides access to a Mac desktop through graphical terminal emulation from an Apple server. To put it simply, ACTS will allow multiple users who are local or remote to run a Mac desktop on any hardware from a single server. Aqua Connect Terminal Server is complex technology, but remarkably simple and easy to use. Once you install Aqua Connect Terminal Server on your Apple hardware running OS X Server, you will be a few steps away from enabling that server to deploy the Mac desktop to multiple users in remote or local locations regardless if they are using a Mac or not. What Will You Need? First you will need Apple hardware running OS X Server software. We suggest an Xserve, Mac Pro or Mac Mini Server based on the number of concurrent connections you will be running. The computers that you want to connect to the server will need to have Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), Virtual Network Connection (VNC) or X11 client software installed. If you are using a PC to connect, then you most likely already have RDC installed on that computer. If you are using a Mac, then you will need to download software for it first. You can find a list of supported software for RDP, VNC and X11 on our client compatibility list. Now as long as you have an internet connection, you are good to go! ACTS Server software can be quickly downloaded and centrally deployed on the server to facilitate access from local and remote clients throughout your school. Only one Mac OS X server license is required to handle as many clients as your server hardware will support. Once installed, ACTS allows multiple clients to run shared copies of applications in the Mac OS X desktop environment simultaneously!
